Description
A gas turbine, gas turbine engine, or also known by its old name internal combustion turbine, is a type of continuous flow internal combustion engine. The main parts common to all gas turbine engines form the power-producing part and are, in the direction of flow:
- a rotating gas compressor
- a combustor
- a compressor-driving turbine.
गैस टर्बाइन एक प्रकार का अंतर्दहन इंजन है जो घूमने के लिए आवश्यक ऊर्जा ज्वलनशील गैस के प्रवाह से प्राप्त करता है और इसी कारण इसे 'दहन टर्बाइन' भी कहा जाता है। चूंकि टरबाइन की गति घूर्णी (रोटरी) होती है, यह विद्युत जनित्र को घुमाने के लिए विशेष रूप से उपयुक्त है। यूएसए की लगभग ९० प्रतिशत विद्युत ऊर्जा भाप टरबाइनों के सहारे ही पैदा की जाती है (१९९६)। भाप टरबाइन की दक्षता अन्य ऊष्मा इंजनों से अधिक होती है। अधिक दक्षता भाप के प्रसार के लिए कई चरणों का प्रयोग करने से प्राप्त होती है।
